Autograph system requirements reality check for 2026

The new system-requirements wire item is worth a short decision note because it answers a real setup question. Autograph is free for individuals, but it is not a no-hardware-cost experiment.

The baseline

Maxon's current requirements page lists 64-bit Windows 10 v22H2 or Windows 11 on the Windows side, macOS 14+ on the Mac side, 16 GB of memory, and an online connection for licensing and online content. The Autograph-specific line is the GPU requirement: NVIDIA Maxwell or newer with at least 4 GB VRAM, AMD RX 570/580 or better, or another discrete OpenCL GPU with at least 4 GB VRAM.

The platform caveat

The general Maxon CPU row mentions Snapdragon X Elite / X Elite2 with a pointer to WinARM limitations, but the WinARM limitations page currently says Autograph is not yet supported on WinARM. That matters for lightweight laptop planning: do not read the general Maxon One table as an Autograph green light for every ARM Windows machine.

Practical reading

For evaluation, a recent Intel/AMD Windows workstation or Apple Silicon Mac is the clean path. Treat older integrated-GPU laptops, Linux plans, and Windows ARM machines as risk areas until Maxon publishes clearer Autograph-specific support.
